Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With SUV In Wyandanch

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with an SUV on Long Island.

It happened on Sunday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m. in Wyandanch on Straight Path, near South 24th Street.

A 62-year-old Wyandanch woman was driving a 2014 Nissan Murano when she attempted to make a left turn onto South 24th Street and collided with a 2004 Honda motorcycle being operated by Martin Newkirk, 50, of Wyandanch.

Newkirk was taken via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. The Wyandanch woman and a passenger in her vehicle were also taken via ambulance to Good Samaritan hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle and motorcycle were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
